Welcome to the Thermophysics Facilities Branch Website.  Here you will find some information about what we do.  Our primary goal is as follows:

 

•The safe operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of the High Risk Thermophysics Facilities at Ames Research Center.

     Aerodynamic Heating Facility (AHF)    

     Interactive Heating Facility (IHF)

    Ames Vertical Gun Range (AVGR)

 

 

  Planetary Aeolian Laboratory

    Mars Surface Wind Tunnel (MARSWIT)

    Venus Wind Tunnel

    Vortex Generator (Dust Devil)

These facilities support national programs by providing ground-based high enthalpy simulation capabilities to support R&D activities in aerothermodynamics, thermal protection materials, vehicle structures, and hypersonic propulsion.
